Education always nurtures, shapes and moulds the life and character of the individuals. It really builds and strengthens the national character on which the fate and future of a nation mostly depends. Higher Education is often conceived of as a process or mechanism that helps every individual to garner civilized living, cultured manners, intellectual eminence and aesthetic perfection. In 1970s Higher Education was not affordable for many poor young men and women in some parts of Odisha. Narendrapur, was one of such areas of Ganjam District. With the advancement of time, absence of a college for catering to the needs of Higher Education was deeply felt by the wise and learned elites of the locality. To establish a college became the long cherished dream of thousands of people of the area. The idea gained ground in the year of 1986 to fulfil the educational need of the increasing number of the students of this area. The college took a tangible shape with the co-operation of the people of the nearby villages. The dignitaries and men from the public life like, Sri Ashok Kumar Choudhury, the then MLA of Chatrapur Consistuency, Sri Siba Sankar Sahani, the then MLA of Berhampur Consistuency,  Sri Prafulla Chandra Nayak, the then Chairman of Chatrapur Panchayat Samiti,Sri Gangadhar Panda, Deputy Divisional Manager, IOB, Narendrapur, Late Rama Chandra Sethy, Ex- MLA of Gopalpur Consistuency, Sri Lingaraj Nayak and Sri Chakrapani Sahu, Ex-Secretaries of the Governing Body,  of Kshetramohan Science College, Narendrapur played significant role in the establishment of this institution.

The dream could not have been materialized without the help of Late Kshetra Mohan Dash of village Tanganapalli, who voluntarily contributed a sum of Rs. 1,25,000/-  towards affiliation fee for the  +2 stream. This noble work was possible due to the selfless sacrifice and dedication of Sri Nabin Chandra Satapathy of village Krishna Chandra Nagardiha. The institution is thankful to the people of the nearby villages, who liberally contributed for the establishment and development of the college in its formative stage. It is the first non-government aided college of Chatrapur Block and has been acknowledged as a growing educational institution of Southern Odisha.
